Home remedies for neck pain

Now days, most of the people suffer from neck pain. It may be due to several reasons like



  1. Working on computer for long time without break.
  2. Strain on neck muscle while sleeping, playing or any other injury.
  3. Doing activities that involve movement of neck or head always.
  4. Stress
  5. Poor posture



Some of the symptoms of neck pain are:


  1. Pain while moving your head or neck.
  2. Headache.
  3. Numbness
  4. Pain in shoulder and upper back.
  5. Swelling in neck.
  6. Stiffness
  7. Feeling pain while sleeping.



So here we are providing you some of the home remedies to treat your neck pain easily at your home:


1. Ice packs:


Crush some ice cubes and then wrap them in a little thick cloth or in a thick polythene bag. Now apply it on your neck or on the nearby regions where you have pain for more than 10 minutes with little pressure. Repeat this process in every 2-3 hours. This will help to reduce pain and you will feel better.



2. Lavender oil:


Apply lavender oil on your neck and shoulder after taking bath to make your neck muscles relax. Doing massage therapy with this will give you more relief. While applying oil on your affected area move your fingers in small circular motions with mild pressure.



3. Heat:


You can also get relief by using heat pad. When you have neck or shoulder pain, apply heating pad on your neck and shoulder for about 10-15 minutes. Repeat this process in every 2-3 hours. If you want you can take hot bath also.

4. Exercise:


If you have nothing, then you can do some exercise for your neck to get relief. It is very simple. You have to gently move your neck from left side to right side, then right side to left side. You can also move your neck in round pattern, clock and anti-clock wise direction. But if it pains too much then don’t do these exercises.



5. Apple cider vinegar:


Take a soft cloth and soak it in apple cider vinegar. Now put it on your neck and leave it for few hours. Do this two times in a day until you get relief. Apple cider vinegar has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties which help to reduce your neck pain and you feel better.



6. Celery leaves:


Take some celery leaves and extract its juice in a glass. Drink this juice daily in the morning before having breakfast. This will help to reduce your neck pain and sore muscles.



7. Turmeric:


Turmeric has anti-inflammatory property which helps to cure your shoulder and neck pain. Take a glass of milk and add one small spoon of turmeric in it. Heat this for about 5 minutes. Now off the heat and after that add honey in it and leave it to cool. Drink this mixture two times in a day to get rid of neck pain.



Some tips to avoid neck pain:

  • While working on computer, take breaks.
  • Sit in proper posture to avoid pressure on neck muscles.
  • Move your neck time to time when you work for long time.
