Raisins are also known as munakka or kisamisa (in Hindi). It is a very delicious and irreplaceable healthy member of dry fruits category. It is also known as a healthy snack food and presumed as nature’s healthy substitute to candies.

Raisins are obtained by drying grapes. When grapes are dried in sun or in driers, turn into golden or black gem, known as raisins.

They are rich source of energy, nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fibers and electrolyte. They are generally used in desserts, puddings, cookies, pies and savoury dishes. They are also added to health tonics and high energy food supplements for athletes, backpackers, and others. They can be a good choice as snacks when you just want something to masticate.

Raisins are rich in carbs, mainly natural sugars like fructose and glucose which makes it’s a good source of energy. It facilitates the absorption of vitamins, proteins and nutrients in the body. For this reason raisin makes a perfect workout snack.

Raisins are loaded with fibers which help food to move easily in digestive system and removes the wastes and toxins from the gastrointestinal tract. Thus provides relief from constipation. It can also help to prevent loose stools by absorbing the liquid of loose stool.
